Former AEW World Tag Team Champion spotted with Cody Rhodes amid WWE speculation
Cody Rhodes has just been spotted with two AEW stars amid a rare time off from the WWE schedule. This comes at an interesting time, with one of the stars mentioned above being linked to a move to the Stamford-based promotion. This would be Ricky Starks and Aaron Solo.
It has been over two years since Rhodes jumped ship, and many others have done the same since. It has been speculated that Starks will most probably follow The American Nightmare's path once his contract with AEW ends. Both Starks and Solo share a close relationship with Cody outside the ring, and this has been the case since they were all part of the Tony Khan-led company.
On Instagram, Cody Rhodes posted a compilation of photos from his short break from work. He showed how he spent time with his family and got to go out with his friends. Ricky Starks and Aaron Solo were spotted in one of these photos, having a good laugh with the group.
The photo can be seen on the 7th post in the slideshow below.
"(72hrs off)," Cody wrote.
It is interesting to note that both Starks and Solo have not been seen in the Jacksonville-based promotion since March this year.
Ricky Starks is currently still under contract in AEW
After having a great run in the latter part of 2023 up to the early parts of 2024, Ricky Starks has completely disappeared from the limelight, and there have been several conversations regarding his status moving forward.
While many have speculated that he may be headed to WWE, it seems that this won't be happening anytime soon. Fightful Select recently reported during their Q&A Podcast that The Absolute One is still signed to the company.
Ibou of WrestlePurists too reported on something similar, as he clarified that with him still being under contract, he will not be able to request and be granted a release from AEW.
At this point, everything remains to be speculation and fans will have to stay tuned to official reports and announcements regarding his status and potential future moves.
