Former champion teases replacing Britt Baker ahead of high-stakes match on AEW Dynamite

Dr. Britt Baker has a major opportunity coming up on this week's special Title Tuesday edition of AEW Dynamite. However, she might want to watch her back, as Nyla Rose is looking to supplant her.

Britt Baker has been making waves since her return from hiatus earlier this year, but she's not the only one in line for a title shot. Willow Nightingale has quickly risen the ranks in All Elite Wrestling, and many would like to see her claim the AEW Women's World Championship from Mariah May.

While Baker is a former Women's World Champion herself, so is Nyla Rose. The Native Beast is always on the lookout for opportunities to shine, and she saw a perfect one on this week's Dynamite.

Britt Baker is set to take on Willow Nightingale tomorrow night, with the winner getting a shot at the AEW Women's World Championship at WrestleDream. Nyla Rose has come up with a devious plan to eliminate The Doctor from the equation and take her place:

"Not that I would do it….. buuuuut what if somebody put a bunch of apples at all the entrances to the arena and Britt couldn’t make the match. Is there a sign-up sheet to fill-in or is it first come first serve ?should I just hang around the ring until match time oorrrr," Nyla wrote on X/Twitter.

Britt Baker comments on reports of backstage heat in AEW

Dr. Britt Baker is a foundational talent in All Elite Wrestling, having been the first female talent ever signed by the company (aside from co-founders like Brandi Rhodes). She became the face of the women's division throughout the promotion's first few years, but that division has grown leaps and bounds throughout 2024.

Rumors of heat and bad behavior have followed Baker ever since her iconic feud with Thunder Rosa in 2021, and some fans have been quick to turn on the former AEW Women's World Champion. The Doctor recently addressed the speculation in an interview with TV Insider:

"It feels sometimes on a weekly basis where I’m accused of something I said or did or didn’t do. It’s heartbreaking because, at the end of the day, I love pro wrestling and AEW’s women’s division. I’ve never ever in my life nor would I ever do anything to sabotage it," Britt Baker said.

Baker lost her bid for Mercedes Mone's TBS Championship at All In 2024, but she's gained some momentum back after defeating Serena Deeb. Whether she can win a shot at Mariah May's title remains to be seen.
