Former champion from WWE returns to AEW Dynamite after 4 months; fails to win major title
A former WWE Superstar returned on AEW Dynamite for the first time since May 2024 and challenged Jack Perry in tonight's edition. The star being discussed is Lio Rush. He was part of WWE from 2017 to 2020.
The Scapegoat has been considered a controversial figure and has been a part of The Elite for a few months now. While he successfully retained his TNT Championship at All In, Perry failed to capture the AEW World Championship from Bryan Danielson at the All Out pay-per-view.
Meanwhile, Lio Rush has showcased his exceptional skills since returning to the promotion in May 2024. He is constantly featured on Collision and ROH. He wasn't featured on Dynamite since his return in May after he wrestled in a Casino Gauntlet match. A few days ago, AEW announced the former NXT Cruiserweight Champio would challenge Jack Perry for the TNT Title.
The short match saw Lio take down Jack multiple times with impeccable agility and speed. Also, Action Andretti, who was ringside to support the challenger, got sent backstage in the middle of the contest after he pulled Perry's leg, and the referee caught him. Ultimately, The Scapegoat picked up an easy victory with a running knee strike later.
It remains to be seen if Lio Rush will be featured more on Dynamite after tonight's impressive performance.
