Former Intercontinental Champion wants to return to AEW for blockbuster match against MJF

MJF made his AEW return at Double Or Nothing, earlier this year, and he's been picking back up where he left off and gaining momentum on the road to All In. A former WWE Intercontinental Champion, who has found success around the world is interested in returning to his former employer, but he also wants to return to All Elite Wrestling for a big match or two.

Matt Cardona began wrestling in 2004, then spent 15 years with WWE till being released in April 2020. The former Zack Ryder reinvented himself in the indies and also appeared for TNA, NWA, and AEW, among other wrestling promotions. The 39-year-old wrestled two All Elite Wrestling matches in 2020, then returned this past March for a loss to his former associate, Adam Copeland (fka Edge).

The Indy God has expressed interest in returning to AEW for a Long Island vs. Long Island match against MJF, but he's also interested in facing Kenny Omega. Speaking to SEScoops, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion commented on returning to one of the big two promotions, also naming his good friend, Cody Rhodes, as a potential opponent.

"There are so many guys in AEW I would love to wrestle. There are ones I would love to wrestle for the first time like Kenny Omega. I would love to wrestle MJF. Long Island versus Long Island. Then WWE. WWE is on fire right now. Cody Rhodes, [Undisputed] WWE Champion. All I’m saying is when he left WWE, he left because Zack Ryder beat Stardust. It sent him out of the company. There are so many potential matchups," Matt Cardona said.

MJF has not publicly responded to Cardona's comments as of this writing. The Indy God suffered a torn pec back in April, and was forced to undergo surgery, and then stem cell therapy. He is still on the shelf but is currently appearing in a non-wrestling role as GCW's General Manager.
