Former Nightmare Family member reveals Cody Rhodes "secrets"; AEW name heaps praise on Undisputed WWE Champion
Q. T. Marshall has had several memorable moments in AEW since 2019. During his first stint with the company, he was a member of the Nightmare Family, which also included Cody Rhodes, Brandi Rhodes, Arn Anderson, Dustin Rhodes, and more. Marshall recently spoke about The American Nightmare.
Interestingly, Marshall is the co-owner and trainer of The Nightmare Factory, a pro wrestling academy. Other owners of the school are current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and wrestling veteran Glacier. The AEW personality recently appeared on Keepin' It 100 and revealed how Cody treated students of his institute.
Marshall said that the Undisputed WWE Champion asks his trainees who their favorite wrestler is on the first day. After that, he advises them to treat everyone they meet in the wrestling business like their favorite wrestler.
The 39-year-old was deeply appreciative of Cody's methods and was glad to work with him.
"I love the idea that our class is taught by Cody. Especially Day One. I'm gonna give away some secrets. When he starts training he asks you 'Who is your favorite wrestler?'. Then Cody would say 'I want you to treat every person you meet in wrestling as your favorite. And if you do that it will go a long way for your career," Marshall said. [From 0:59 to 1:24]
AEW Vice President of Show and Creative Coordination Q. T. Marshall on wrestling etiquette
The professional wrestling business has numerous unwritten rules and etiquette. While most continue to this day, some of them are gradually fading with time. In the conversation mentioned above, Marshall and Disco Inferno discussed how modern wrestlers mostly kept to themselves and avoided verbal interactions.
The AEW Vice President of Show and Creative Coordination believed that this phenomenon was predominantly because most new-age performers went to wrestling schools and didn't learn about etiquette.
"It is definitely the people on their own just being introverted and so forth. And then a lot of it is wrestling schools because they have never done these things," he said. [From 2:50 to 3:03]
In AEW, Marshall has locked horns with several prominent names. He is now a key backstage figure in the Tony Khan-led company.
