Former United States Champion last seen in WWE nearly 4 years ago wants Cody Rhodes in a deathmatch

A former WWE United States Champion has revealed that he wants to take on Cody Rhodes in a deathmatch. This star was last seen in the company four years ago.

Matt Cardona left WWE in 2020 after he was released from his contract. He has since made his name on the independent scene and even has even had sporadic appearances in AEW with his last appearance coming when he took on Adam Copeland a few months back.

From the independent scene, one of the promotions he works for is GCW. One fan asked him on X (fka Twitter), who would his dream opponent be for a deathmatch. Without hesitation, Cardona just gave a simple reply and said it would be The American Nightmare.

“Cody,” he responded.

Cody and Cardona are good friends and to see that he wants to face the Undisputed WWE Champion in a match as big as that is a testament to how highly he rates the 39-year-old.

WWE Superstar The Miz labels Cardona as biggest bully

As previously mentioned, Cody Rhodes and Matt Cardona are good friends and they pull each other’s legs from time to time.

The Undisputed WWE Champion recently sat down with The Miz on an episode of What Do You Wanna Talk About? When the former asked the veteran if he knew anyone called Zack Ryder (Cardona’s former name in the Stmaford-based promotion), the 43-year-old replied in the affirmative and said that Matt was the biggest bully and constantly trying to embarrass him on the internet.

“Yes, very much so. 100 percent. Know him very well. Anytime I post something that I think is very... I am proud of... he is the first comment and he is usually making fun of me. He is the biggest bully on the internet. Like I go and or he will put it in a group chat, and he will just put the picture and just leave it there for everyone just to like gang up on me and rip me in shreds,” he said.

This just goes to show that despite working in different companies, there is still great camaraderie between the stars in the pro wrestling industry.
