Former world champion has a "strong desire" to face Kenny Omega

Widely regarded as one of the best wrestlers of this generation, Kenny Omega has a long list of top-tier talents simply itching to work with him. One of these names includes a former world champion who has made his intentions incredibly clear.

Shingo Takagi is a near-two-decade wrestling veteran who is currently signed to NJPW, where he is a former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. The Rampage Dragon has also made sporadic appearances for AEW in the past.

He will challenge Tama Tonga for the NEVER Openweight Championship at NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed on October 28, with a list of highlight names in his sights should he walk away victorious. He told Tokyo Sports (via DeepL) the following:

"[Kota] Ibushi has a record of one win and one loss, and our fight at the Tokyo Dome in July [2021] was already been postponed. He also said that it's not zero possibility. I myself have a strong desire to fight Kenny [Omega]. In all my matches, that tense atmosphere against [Katsuhiko] Nakajima was the best this year. Even though I won, it was only once, and they have more wins than me, with a singles record of one win and two losses."

Matches against Kota Ibushi and Katsuhiko Nakajima will most certainly be intriguing bouts, but the big name that stands out there is Kenny Omega. Perhaps fans could see this hypothetical scenario play out on AEW television soon.

Kenny Omega looks to steer the ship

Kenny Omega's 2023 has not been all that great from a singles perspective. The Cleaner has suffered many somewhat surprising defeats in one-on-one action, particularly after Don Callis betrayed him.

On last week's episode of Dynamite, Kenny Omega took a step in the right direction to reclaim his championship form when he defeated Kyle Fletcher in what can only be described as a breathtaking affair.

The Best Bout Machine will be hoping that this significant win will be the catalyst that sends him back on the path to AEW gold.
