Former WWE champion is heading to AEW - Reports

A former WWE champion is reportedly heading to AEW. This comes after he reportedly refused to re-sign with the Stamford-based promotion. Ricochet has been one of WWE's best in-ring performers in recent years. He was able to win over the WWE audience due to his risk-taking abilities. The former Prince Puma started his WWE career in NXT, where he quickly rose through the ranks to win the NXT North American Championship. During his time at NXT, Ricochet faced and defeated some of the top stars on the brand.

His performances managed to impress the higher-ups in the company, and Ricochet was promoted to the main roster. However, his time on the main roster was anything but remarkable. The former NXT star was a subject of poor booking and struggled to cement himself as a main-event singles star despite winning the Intercontinental Championship.

Hence, when it came time for his contract negotiations, he chose not to re-sign with the Stamford-based promotion. This fueled speculation that he could be AEW-bound soon. According to Fightful Select, the former Speed Champion is now officially a free agent. The report also cited sources within WWE and AEW and claimed that the former RAW Superstar might join Tony Khan's promotion. However, according to the same reports, he wasn't penciled in to face Will Ospreay at All In despite the speculation.

Ricochet was written off WWE television following a backstage assault by Bron Breakker during the June 8, 2024, episode of Monday Night RAW.
