Former WWE star comments on AEW Dynamite's abysmal numbers (Exclusive)
AEW Dynamite's recent disappointing ratings have sparked a discussion among fans and veterans, prompting an ex-WWE star to comment. According to him, addressing the problem is the need of the hour instead of defending it.
Dynamite recently went head to head with NXT, drawing a record-low 329,000 viewers, whereas NXT drew 874,000. As expected, this led to comparisons between the two companies. Despite the loss of viewers, several fans were noticeably still defending Tony Khan's promotion and its quality, something which former WWE star EC3 does not agree with.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, EC3 stated:
"As far as like a number, I do know, like the apologists making claims, yes, it's on a different night. I do believe in routine and consistency will definitely take a big notch out of any number. But at the same time, the more you don't acknowledge there's a problem with building audience and attendance and things like that, the longer it goes, the further away it is from being something salvageable where hundreds of people are employed and making living wages that you don't want to see that go away for the sake of them or the industry." Another WWE veteran also commented on AEW Dynamite's numbers
According to Vince Russo, the people defending AEW at this point are settling for mediocrity instead of striving for perfection.
Speaking on the same episode of The Wrestling Outlaws, the WWE veteran stated that he had no tolerance for mediocrity and was always trying to do his best in everything.
"It's people settling for mediocrity. I mean that's, I have no tolerance for that whatsoever. Bro, listen, we are Christian men. And I have a firm belief that our great God did not create us to be mediocre. He created all of us to do great things. There was a plan for all of us to do great things." [1:37 onwards]
As of now, fans will have to stay tuned to see if Tony Khan has plans to adapt to the situation soon.
