Former WWE star "cried multiple times" during Rhea Ripley's backstage visit at AEW show
WWE Superstar Rhea Ripley is one of wrestling's most popular names. She held the Women's World Championship for a staggering 380 days but was unfortunately forced to relinquish it due to an injury.
Ripley is respected and appreciated by many individuals in the wrestling business, due to her character and in-ring abilities. One of them is AEW star Serena Deeb. Reports suggest that earlier this year, Ripley was present backstage during the AEW pay-per-view, Double Or Nothing. She was apparently visiting her husband, Buddy Matthews of House of Black and others. During the stay, She ran into Serena Deeb, her former colleague. Deeb was with WWE from 2009 to 2010 and from 2017 to 2020.
In a recent appearance on Gabby AF, the 38-year-old AEW wrestler recalled how she was overcome with emotions when she met her friend from the WWE Performance Center. The duo embraced for 10 whole minutes and Deeb reportedly cried several times. Additionally, she told the former Women's World Champion that she was proud of her.
"I gave her the biggest hug and we, seriously, did not let go for 10 minutes. We were just standing there with our arms around each other. Like, I cried. I cried multiple times. I told her, ‘I’m so proud of you. I knew it. You’ve preserved through so much’ and I love watching her. I think she’s the biggest star in women’s wrestling."
Serena Deeb expressed her desire to fight Rhea Ripley someday
In the same Gabby AF episode mentioned above, Deeb stated that she wanted to face Ripley someday, however, she is confident that their bout would be extremely violent.
Additionally, she said that she and Ripley have a very strong bond.
"Definitely number one [who I want to wrestle] is Rhea Ripley… Yes [we would beat the hell out of each other]. We so would. When we were at the Performance Center together, we just had a really cool bond."
Some of Rhea Ripley's biggest accomplishments in the WWE apart from the Women's World Championship are the WWE RAW Women's Championship, the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, the NXT Women's Championship, and more.
