Former WWE star needs to go away from AEW, says veteran, only to return after a Hurt Syndicate twist

Former WWE star Matthew Rehwoldt (FKA Aiden English) has said that Swerve Strickland should take a break from AEW TV. The latter is currently in a feud with The Hurt Syndicate.

The Realest Star, who worked in the Stamford-based promotion from 2019 to 2021, is set to lock horns with Bobby Lashley in a singles match at the upcoming Full Gear pay-per-view.

Speaking on the REBOOKED Wrestling podcast, the erstwhile Aiden English stated that Swerve Strickland should go away from AEW TV for a while and let things build up in the promotion in his absence.

"I feel like after the loss to Danielson, I felt like Swerve was gone or should have gone away for a bit, but they had to like tie up the Hangman stuff. Okay, he stays there. They do the cage with Hangman; brutal, puts over Hangman. Then he did go away, but it was only like two or three weeks, and then The Hurt Syndicate came in, and they are messing with Nana, and Swerve comes back to answer that," he said.

The TNA commentator further added that The New Flavor should then return at a major event after The Hurt Syndicate recruited a new member such as Lio Rush to the faction, kickstarting a ''hero's journey!''

"I feel like finally it gets put down to the point where it’s like, 'I need to regroup' like we don’t see him till like the New York kind of thing, like maybe, in the build up to Revolution or whatever kind of thing, and he comes back, and maybe, The Hurt Syndicate gets one or two new people maybe a Lio maybe then we see a bad a** to your point hero's journey!"
