Former WWE star reacts to backlash over Cody Rhodes’ recent comments about AEW
A former WWE Superstar has addressed the ongoing backlash of Cody Rhodes' comments about AEW. The Undisputed WWE Champion made a huge contribution in starting AEW but left the promotion in 2022 to return to WWE.
QT Marshall was a performer in AEW and used to accompany Cody Rhodes and Arn Anderson to the ring during the promotion's early days. The 39-year-old left the company late last year but was rehired in February 2024 as Vice President of Show and Creative Coordination. He is also a former WWE Superstar who wrestled on the NXT brand from 2013 to 2017.
In a recent interview, The American Nightmare opened up about the "terrible" ending to his AEW career. He admitted that the fans wanted to see him as a heel while he portrayed a top face and also pointed out that some fans wanted him out of the company. The former AEW EVP has been facing a lot of criticism on social media following his comments.
Recently, QT Marshall clapped back at some fans who despised Cody Rhodes' comments and stated that the latter's responses were extremely appropriate and classy about AEW.
"Tell people to stop asking him about it. If you can’t handle his responses, don’t ask the questions. The responses he gives are some of the most politically correct responses. He’s sitting on top of the opposition, and still keeps his responses classy," he wrote.
Cody Rhodes talks about hating one thing the Young Bucks said
The Young Bucks mentioned in their autobiography, Killing The Business, that The American Nightmare was the last one from The Elite to sign with AEW.
While speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Cody Rhodes admitted he 'hated' that particular statement from the book. He claimed that despite being the last to sign the deal from the group, he was the first one to meet Tony Khan.
“I hated that in The Young Bucks’ book they said I was last to the signing. Because that’s a big thing. (...) That’s one of the things that people always cite ‘Oh, he was last, he wasn’t that big a deal to the origin.’ No, this guy here who’s off camera was the first person to ever meet Tony and he met him in a vetting process for all of us," Rhodes said.
It will be interesting to see if he ever decides to return to AEW in the future.
