Former WWE star reveals how Matt Riddle actually is in real life, says AEW move can still happenĀ (Exclusive)
A former WWE star believes Matt Riddle still has a chance of signing with AEW. The star in question is none other than EC3.
Matt Riddle was released from WWE last year and has since returned to the independent circuit. There have been rumblings about Riddle's possible AEW arrival. The Original Bro recently addressed the rumors. The star revealed that he had a brief interaction with Tony Khan at an NJPW show and he believes the AEW boss wasn't interested in bringing him to his company.
In the recent edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Outlaws with Dr. Chris, EC3 explained how Tony Khan could eventually come around and sign Matt Riddle to a contract for All Elite Wrestling despite his controversial personality.
"No, probably not. I mean Tony's a mark. I wonder what match they were talking about? Matt's a cool dude and he's an intriguing fella for sure and he is, I would say he's sarcastic. He's just like a 'Happy to be there dude, you know whatever, man. It's cool.' I wonder what the match was and I don't know if it's a battle of whist or weed-induced hallucination there but having the conversation, but I don't see that being an endgame or stop game. Matt Riddle recently said that the fans could see him in AEW soon
Despite his awkward interaction with All Elite CEO Tony Khan, Matt Riddle has spoken highly of the company's product and teased a potential appearance in the future.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Matt Riddle revealed that going to All Elite Wrestling would be the best option for him as he can work with other companies like MLW and NJPW. He further teased an appearance by saying that the fans could see him on an All Elite Wrestling channel in the future.
"The best answer would be to go to AEW, get more money, and work a decent schedule. I didn't want to work on TV again. I didn't want the attention for a while. I wanted to step away, and just do indies. I know MLW works with New Japan. NJPW works a lot with AEW. Maybe you'll see me on an AEW channel or broadcast sooner rather than later. Maybe you won't."
It will be interesting to see if Tony Khan signs Riddle to a contract as The Original Bro could have some great matches in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
