Former WWE star's issues with Chris Jericho have gotten personal after wild non-AEW incident
Chris Jericho has been with AEW since the beginning, but now his rivalries have taken him outside of the All Elite ring. The veteran grappler has had issues with numerous top stars, and now he's battling another multi-time champion. Jericho was just called out by a certain polarizing star after a shocking sneak attack.
The Learning Tree is currently going at it with a former rival and tag team partner from WWE: Matt Cardona. The erstwhile Zack Ryder is set to challenge Jericho for the ROH World Championship this coming Friday at Ring of Honor's Final Battle pay-per-view at the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Cardona remains a free agent, but mainly works for GCW and TNA.
The Indie God returned to the GCW ring on Saturday in Los Angeles at Highest In The Room 3. He was defeated by Effy after a sneak attack by a masked man, who turned out to be Jericho. The raucous segment ended with Jericho also dropping Effy. Cardona took to X today to share footage of what he labeled the Los Angeles Screwjob.
Cardona declared that things between him and Jericho were now personal. He then looked ahead to winning the ROH World Championship at Final Battle.
"LA SCREWJOB! @IAmJericho had the balls to invade my turf and attack me tonight at @GCWrestling_! Now this is personal. I can’t wait to win the @ringofhonor World Championship!" Matt Cardona wrote with the video below.
AEW brought Cardona in to feud with Jericho as this is seen as a big opportunity to get eyes on the Ring of Honor product. Sources recently revealed a major reason for why Tony Khan put the title around Jericho's waist.
