Former WWE star warns Bobby Lashley and MVP about AEW (Exclusive)
Former WWE star EC3 recently sent a word of warning to MVP and Bobby Lashley about potentially reuniting The Hurt Business in AEW. Recent reports have suggested Lashley and MVP's WWE contracts were set to expire soon.
The Hurt Business was formed in 2020 by MVP after recruiting Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. The group later added Cedric Alexander and shortly after that, they were dripped in gold. Benjamin and Alexander went on to capture the RAW Tag Team Titles and Bobby Lashley won the United States Championship. The All-Mighty also captured his first world title in March 2021 when he defeated The Miz to become the WWE Champion.
On a recent edition of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws podcast with Dr. Chris Featherstone and Vince Russo, EC3 spoke about the possible reunion of The Hurt Business in All Elite Wrestling. However, the NWA Worlds Champion explained the downside of the faction's booking in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
"Should The Hurt Business form? Should MVP and Bobby [Lashley] be free to create their own creative thing and run hog-wild with it and take it all across the world? Absolutely, 100 percent. (...) Sure, they could go to AEW and guess what, some matches are gonna happen and their music is gonna play and they're gonna walk out and it's a big reaction, and the next week, they're already in a big blowoff match of a main event feud that could take six months to build and would've been really cool, but instead, they just throw it away and everything goes back to normal." Reports that two big names such as Lashley and MVP could leave WWE and join AEW soon have not been missed by many former stars. While some were of the view having an alternate promotion was good for the business, others were not quite sure how the stars would fit in at AEW.
Former SmackDown star Matt Morgan recently discussed The Hurt Business possibly heading to AEW on the Gigantic Pop podcast. The veteran said that the faction could move to the Jacksonville-based promotion but felt the roster was too full, which could be a problem for the faction to get TV time.
"You could, but... Here's my problem with that, is AEW's too freaking full as it is. They have too many people, they can't get them on television. Now, would I have them there, instead of a lot of these, no offense, these ham and egg sandwiches that they have there, that aren't always on TV and every six months, get on TV somehow."
Bobby Lashley and MVP have been quiet about their potential departure from the Stamford-based promotion. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for both men.
