Former WWE Superstar claims joining AEW was "always the goal"

A former WWE Superstar has disclosed that joining AEW was a goal for him and his current tag team partner. He is currently signed to the Tony Khan-led promotion.

The former WWE Superstar in question is Mansoor. He was released from the Stamford-based promotion last year along with Mason Madden (fka Mace). The two re-formed their tag team on the independent wrestling scene following their release and made their AEW debut a few months ago as MxM Collection.

Mansoor recently revealed that it was his and Mason's goal to join the Tony Khan-led promotion while they were competing on the independent circuit. On AEW Unrestricted, the 28-year-old also disclosed that people in NXT used to watch All Elite Wrestling when he was there.

"When we were on the indies, we had the goal of going to AEW, that was always the goal. (...) I remember we were sitting when AEW first started we were in NXT. And we'd be sitting in that auditorium watching NXT while people would be on their phones watching AEW. There was always an element of outsider intrigue, that new sort of revolutionary thing where we'd be like, 'God, I feel like if we were there we could be doing something really special,'" Mansoor revealed. Former WWE Superstar Mansoor reveals he has creative freedom in AEW

Mansoor mentioned that he and Mason Madden (fka Mace) had a little bit of creative freedom in AEW.

On AEW Unrestricted, the former WWE star said the following about his experience working alongside the Tony Khan-led creative team:

"So all these years later, it's so rewarding to actually show up and for it to kinda take off in that sense where creatively speaking, I think it's firing off on all cylinders where the synergy has been awesome. Because getting the opportunity to actually have creative freedom while also working with the creative team in AEW as I think produces some of the best things that we've ever done." [0:51 - 1:12]

MxM Collection continues to impress fans with their work in All Elite Wrestling's tag team division. Only time will tell what Tony Khan has in store for them.
