Former WWE Superstar rules out the possibility of a match against CM Punk
A former WWE Superstar recently stated that he doesn't want to face CM Punk. The former AEW World Champion has been using the GTS (Go To Sleep) as his finishing move for years. Along with him, a top NJPW has also been using the same move. The star being discussed is KENTA.
The 43-year-old star has been a top star in WWE, NJPW, and NOAH. He has also made a couple of appearances for AEW in 2021. He has wrestled just one match in the company where he teamed up with Kenny Omega to defeat Jon Moxley and Lance Archer on an episode of Dynamite. Throughout his career, he has been using GTS as his finishing move and claims that he was the inventor of the finisher.
The Voice of the Voiceless was a top asset for AEW for a couple of years before getting released from the promotion in 2023. The star eventually made his return to WWE at the 2023 Survivor Series Premium Live Event. The star is currently involved in a heated rivalry with Drew McIntyre.
Also, The Second City Saint has been seemingly involved in another rivalry with KENTA for years as the duo share the same finisher. While speaking on Sports Illustrated, the NJPW veteran talked about a potential match with CM Punk for the GTS. KENTA then dismissed the idea by saying the move was already his.
“Do people want to see me vs. CM Punk? We can’t fight for the GTS. The GTS is mine,” he said. [H/T - Sports Illustrated]
CM Punk takes a shot at AEW on recent RAW
AEW has been struggling to sell tickets since last year and therefore, empty seats have often been noted on the hard camera side.
On a recent episode of Monday Night RAW, he spoke about Drew McIntyre and his suspension. During the segment, he pointed out the hard camera side crowd, claiming people were sitting on that side too, apparently taking a shot at the crowd in AEW shows.
It will be interesting to if Drew and CM Punk face each other at this year's SummerSlam.
