Former WWE World Champion surprisingly missing from AEW Grand Slam Australia's talent poster

A former WWE World Champion might not compete at AEW Grand Slam Australia next year, according to the official promotional poster. The star in question is none other than Bryan Danielson.

The American Dragon has been having a great run since July after winning the Owen Hart Tournament. Bryan successfully won the AEW World Championship at All In against Swerve Strickland and, on the post-All In episode of Dynamite, he made it clear that he would retire once he lost the title. The former WWE star has also been vocal about hanging up his boots later this year.

Bryan Danielson's retirement plans for 2024 might be true as in the official Brisbane ticket notification for the Grand Slam set to take place in Australia, The American Dragon was nowhere to be found on the poster. It featured stars like Will Ospreay, Hangman Page, Swerve Strickland, among others.

We will have to wait and see if Bryan Danielson wrestles in Australia next year. However, it is unlikely due to his statements about his retirement.

Bryan Danielson reveals match against CM Punk was in plans in AEW

CM Punk was fired from All Elite Wrestling in September last year after his backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In 2023. However, there were many feuds lined up for the former World Champion in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

In a recent chat with Inside The Ropes, Bryan Danielson revealed a match against CM Punk in All Elite Wrestling was in the works and he would have had fun wrestling the Best in the World.

"Sad isn’t the right word. It was something that I thought was going to happen, but it didn’t happen. It would have been cool and really fun for me.” [H/T RingsideNews]

Bryan Danielson retained his AEW World Championship against Jack Perry at All Out. It will be interesting to see if Jon Moxley is next in line for his title after his shocking heel turn on Bryan at the pay-per-view event.
