FTR set to make blockbuster debut for non-AEW promotion

FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) has become the foundation for the tag team division in AEW. While the duo doesn't currently have any championship gold, Dax and Cash remain heavily involved in the company's top programs.

However, that doesn't mean they aren't taking outside bookings. Like many All Elite wrestlers, the two occasionally run the roads on the independent circuit, keeping their skills sharp and their wallets full.

FTR has never competed in North Carolina-based DEADLOCK Pro Wrestling before, but they're now scheduled to make their debut for the promotion. DPW took to X (fka Twitter) today to announce that the two-time AEW World Tag Team Champions will be in action at Super Battle on October 13 in Charlotte, NC.

FTR will face a recent WWE name later this month

Kevin Owens teased a team-up with his friend "Ricky" on the most recent episode of WWE SmackDown. The man in question turned out to be independent star Ricky Gibson. Unfortunately, Gibson was passed over for Randy Orton and only received a Stunner from Owens for all his troubles.

Ricky Gibson has been making a name for himself on the indy scene, and he's now set to face AEW's FTR in a tag team bout alongside his Midnight Heat partner, Eddie Pearl.

The two teams will square off at Prestige Wrestling's Roseland 9 show at the Roseland Theater in Portland, OR, on September 29.

"Everything I say from this point on you better take as gospel," said Ricky. "If I say the sun's gonna burn out tomorrow, you better buy a flashlight tonight! And on September 29, The Midnight Heat is going to beat FTR."

This will be Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler's debut for Prestige Wrestling, marking another notch under their belts. The former AEW World Tag Team Champions are favorites to win at both the Prestige and DEADLOCK shows, but whether these shows lead to more appearances for the independent promotions in the future remains to be seen.
