Hall of Famer asks for actual proof of Tony Khan-Shane McMahon’s private meeting (Exclusive)
A certain Hall of Famer recently talked about the highly talked-about photo of Shane McMahon and AEW President Tony Khan surfacing on social media. He was not convinced about its authenticity. This would be Bill Apter.
Shane O'Mac's name has been linked with All Elite Wrestling for some time now. There have been talks about him and Khan meeting up, and it seems there may be proof of this finally happening. Mercedes Moné also revealed that she had recently run into the WWE veteran at the airport, and they had caught up with one another.
During the latest episode of Rings and Rambles, Sportskeeda Senior Editor Bill Apter addressed the photograph, but he did not feel legitimate. He questioned how they looked in the picture and how a private meeting like such should not have been leaked out that easily if it were true.
"Two things got me on this. Number one, wouldn't you think if they were together and they were allowing someone to take a photo, they would have stood there together, pally together? Or someone just snuck a candid and ran out, and one of them would have gone, 'Oh, oh.' What do you do? Now, in this age of Photoshop and everything, I can put myself in a meeting with Shane McMahon and Tony Khan," Apter said.
The photo did not convince the NWA Hall of Famer, as it could have been edited. He hoped several major sources or even the cameraman themselves would unearth the real scoop behind this.
"No one, again, they're using the word reportedly, but until somebody shows me actual proof, the photographer maybe? Maybe we can dig him/her up." [1:41-2:30]
Another wrestling journalist believes the photo between Shane McMahon and Tony Khan was intentionally leaked
Bryan Alvarez recently commented on the photograph, and he felt that, due to its nature, it was intentionally leaked to news outlets.
On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Alvarez claimed there was no chance this was a stolen photo. He felt that Tony Khan may have wanted this to get out there, which could indicate that Shane McMahon was coming in.
"From what I know, stories I've heard, there is no chance somebody walked in on this meeting, took a photograph, Tony [Khan] went, 'Aahh!' and then they fled, and they put it out on the internet. No chance, zero. Zilch, not a chance in the world, okay? So he wants it out there. Why? Well, I don't know what's going on. I don't have any inside information on this one, but I don't know, man. I think Shane's coming in. I think he's coming in," the journalist said.
At this point, it remains to be seen what happened, as there has been no information on the minutiae of the meeting or whether Shane McMahon could get involved with AEW.
