"He may be killed as well" - Top AEW star is not the chosen one to dethrone Jon Moxley, says former WWE writer
Jon Moxley has suddenly transformed into one of the most intimidating men in pro wrestling again since turning on Bryan Danielson. While Orange Cassidy might be positioned as a potential savior of AEW, Freddie Prinze Jr. recently explained why another star could take Mox down.
Jon Moxley walked the talk at WrestleDream by ending Bryan Danielson's reign and becoming the new AEW World Champion. Moxley once again attempted to choke out Danielson after the match and has since been terrorizing the AEW roster in his bid to bring about a change in the company.
Orange Cassidy is amongst the babyfaces who've stepped up to Mox and he will face the world champion at Full Gear for the title. Cassidy might be a fan-favorite but Freddie Prinze Jr. felt the former International Champion would end up being another victim of Jon Moxley:
"I don't know if Orange Cassidy is the one that is going to dethrone Moxley. I think he may be killed as well and sacrificed for the masterpiece that Moxley is painting because he has ways to go before he should lose this title." [From 36:50 onwards]
Freddie Prinze Jr. wants Jon Moxley to have a lengthy AEW title run
Jon Moxley and his crew have been ruthless in their attacks on other stars and it would take a gigantic effort to stop them.
While taking the belt away from Mox is one way of laying a dent in his aura, Freddie Prinze Jr. warned AEW about booking a premature title change.
The former WWE writer hoped Moxley would have a long stint with the belt and Tony Khan takes his time choosing the star who deserves the world title push next.
Prinze added:
"I think this should be a very long dominant title run, where all of these guys are coming up and they just can't do it and then when you find someone in the company that you're ready to strap the rocket to, that's the one that finally takes him down." [From 37:00 onwards]
Moxley will take on Orange Cassidy at Full Gear and the general expectation is for the reigning world champion to prevail, not before The Conglomeration member puts up a valiant fight.
