"He is never going back to AEW" - Vince Russo reacts to former WWE Champion's explosive comments (Exclusive)

The pro wrestling business is as healthy as it has ever been, with All Elite Wrestling being the top competitor to WWE. CM Punk recently ruffled some feathers with a comment about AEW talents, and Vince Russo broke down the WWE star's statement.

CM Punk's return to pro wrestling happened in 2021 for AEW, and it marked the beginning of a pretty chaotic run. While Punk had some high-profile matches, his time in the company ended in controversy as his contract was terminated in 2023.

Punk has since made his WWE comeback and looks like he never left the Stamford-based promotion in the first place. During a recent interview, Punk claimed that he may have "wasted" some of his matches in AEW on talents that didn't quite understand the wrestling business.

Phil Brooks' comment was discussed on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws this week, and Vince Russo could understand The Second City Saint's viewpoint. For starters, Russo believed even Punk didn't expect an AEW return to ever happen and was now working with top veterans of the industry such as Triple H.

Russo said that as CM Punk had no way back in AEW, he could say whatever he wanted but stressed that the former WWE Champion would ensure he remained on his best behavior.

"No, I think he was around that company long enough and around Triple H long enough to know how it works. Listen, he is never going back to AEW. He knows this is it. So, he is going to be on his best behavior until he realizes it's the end of his road. So, no man, I don't think he is going to upset the apple cart." [From 1:20 onwards]

EC3 shares his thoughts on WWE Superstar CM Punk's AEW comments

This isn't the first time CM Punk has fired shots at his former employer, as he spoke at length about his AEW career during an interview with Ariel Helwani.

EC3 pointed out that Punk delved deeper into most of the AEW topics that needed to be addressed back then and that he didn't need to give lengthy explanations after spending time in World Wrestling Entertainment since his return.

Carter noted that CM Punk was now in the presence of talents and personnel who knew the ins and outs of the pro wrestling business. As CM Punk already addressed his AEW past, EC3 said the 46-year-old didn't want to pay much attention to his former co-workers.

EC3 explained:

"Like he's got a great point. He is working with Drew [McIntyre] and Cody [Rhodes] and Triple H, top WWE guys who get the business and there is a difference between the people who get it and don't. And he's working with people that get it and he gets it. So I don't think there are any parameters, I just think he doesn't want to revisit it."

After a brief hiatus, CM Punk is back on WWE TV and will compete alongside Roman Reigns' team at one of the most anticipated Survivor Series events ever.
