"He reminds me a lot of Bret Hart" - Chris Jericho applauds 39-year-old AEW competitor for reinventing himself

Chris Jericho has applauded a 39-year-old AEW performer for reinventing himself on the indies. This is some high praise indeed.

The Learning Tree has seen a lot of stars throughout his stellar career, and he surely knows how to spot talent when he sees one. He issued special praise to none other than Matt Cardona.

While speaking on a recent edition of the Busted Open Radio, the former AEW World Champion praised Cardona and said the 39-year-old star's wrestling style reminds him of WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart. He said:

“Matt Cardona, he’s really done a good job of reinventing himself, of recreating himself. And dare I say, he reminds me a lot of Bret Hart. Everything he does is very solid, it looks great, he’s very meat and potatoes in the best possible way. Matt’s not the type of guy that’s going to do a moonsault off the balcony, and neither am I. So we’ll leave that to the guys that do that. And I expect we’re just going to beat the sh*t out of each other with a raucous crowd who are sick of Jericho proclaiming to be the king of New York.” [H/T F4WOnline]

Chris Jericho says Matt Cardona has not yet signed with AEW

Chris Jericho will put his ROH World Championship on the line against Matt Cardona at the Final Battle pay-per-view on December 20 after the latter answered an open challenge a few weeks back on Ring of Honor.

Despite showing up at the show, Jericho has suggested that Matt Cardona has still not signed with AEW. While speaking on the same edition of the Busted Open Radio, he said:

"Just the fact that we are doing this is special. The fact that it's in Hammerstein, with the vibe that is expected. I don't think anybody expected Matt Cardona to answer this challenge. He's not an AEW regular. We haven't seen him a whole lot."

It will be great to see the two former WWE stars go head-to-head at the event.
