"He's been missed," says Buddy Matthews ahead of former WWE star's in-ring return in AEW
Buddy Matthews recently sent another message ahead of the long-awaited AEW in-ring return of a certain WWE Superstar. He wished to welcome him back to professional wrestling. This would be Adam Cole.
The former NXT Champion has not competed in any match since All Out 2023. His hiatus of more than a year came due to a serious ankle injury he sustained in September last year. Next week on Fright Night Dynamite, he'll be competing for the first time since then.
Earlier on AEW Collision, a video package showcasing Buddy Matthews and Adam Cole's match next week was shown, including their thoughts ahead of the match. On X/Twitter, he added to this by mentioning how he was honored to welcome Cole back to professional wrestling. He wanted him to go all out and prove to everyone that he still has what it takes.
"Honored to welcome @AdamColePro back to professional wrestling. He’s been missed. Please bring 100%, you owe it the people & you owe it to yourself. I beg you to prove me wrong! 🙏"
Another challenge concerning Adam Cole was dropped on AEW Dynamite
This match against Buddy Matthews may help Adam Cole tackle two birds with one stone. On Dynamite, he also received a challenge from MJF.
Friedman wanted to "dangle the carrot" in front of him and Roderick Strong, so he brought up a challenge for the two. The first to get three wins would earn the right to fight him at AEW Full Gear next month.
Seeing as The Panama City Playboy is already booked for a match next week, should he win this, he'll be two wins away from having the chance to face MJF at the pay-per-view.
All eyes will be on Adam Cole as he looks to make his long-awaited in-ring return. It remains to be seen whether he'll have to shake off some ring rust or whether he'll be back like he never left.
