"He saved my life there" - Former WWE name recalls the time Christian Cage averted disaster

A former WWE Superstar recently thanked AEW star Christian Cage for averting a disaster and saving his life during a wrestling match. The superstar in question is Maven.

On his YouTube channel, Maven spoke about the worst injury of his career while rewatching his match with Christian on an episode of WWE SmackDown. The former Hardcore Champion broke his leg while attempting a baseball slide during the bout.

"There it is. That makes me cringe. The move is called a baseball slide. I played baseball for the better part of 17 years of my life. The fact that I broke my leg on a baseball side is God proving that he has a sense of humour. At this point, my leg, I knew it was broken [...] My boot gets caught on the canvas and immediately I break my ankle and my fibula," Maven said. [H/T ITR Wrestling]

The 46-year-old threw Christian Cage out of the ring, in an unplanned spot, to bide some time to alert the referee about the injury. Maven called Christian a professional and said he knew what was happening in the ring despite being thrown out.

"I threw Christian out right there, that wasn’t the called spot. He immediately knew when I threw him out just to follow. Christian is a professional, he knows what is happening in the ring. I am alerting the ref, Hey I’m hurt, my leg is broken. My leg was pretty much snapped in two spots at this point. He saved my life there. Thanks, Christian. I was going down on my head. If he doesn’t catch me there, that’s not a good day for me," Maven added. [H/T ITR Wrestling]

Former WWE stars Christian Cage and Adam Copeland will be locker room leaders in AEW, says Bill Apter

Adam Copeland (FKA Edge) debuted in All Elite Wrestling on October 1, 2023, at WrestleDream. The 11-time WWE Champion is currently involved in a storyline with his long-term friend and former tag partner Christian Cage.

On a recent episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, Bill Apter said Christian and Copeland are in a position to guide the AEW talent and become the locker-room leaders.

"I think that Edge, and I mentioned this in a tweet, is at the top of the ladder in respect just like Undertaker and that the talent in AEW will look [up] to him and Christian together as two guys with one great mind to help guide that company further." [From 02:25 onward]

Adam Copeland and Christian Cage are seven-time WWE Tag Team Champions. It will be interesting to see if Copeland and Cage will team up again in All Elite Wrestling.
