Heavyweight star loses spot in major match; squashed in AEW Dynamite main event
A heavyweight AEW star suffered a massive loss in an ongoing tournament on the latest episode of Dynamite. The talent in question, Brody King, squared off against Claudio Castagnoli of The Death Riders.
The House of Black member had previously battled with and defeated The Swiss Cyborg in the Continental Classic last year in a Blue League encounter. A rematch between the two was announced shortly after King defeated Darby Allin last week on the Thanksgiving Eve episode of Dynamite, and then prevented Castagnoli from carrying out a post-match ambush on the former TNT Champion.
Brody and Claudio went to war in a blockbuster Continental Classic Gold League encounter on the December 4 edition of AEW's Wednesday Night Show. King brought the fight to Castagnoli with his heavy-duty chops and strikes, but the latter managed to match his opponent's strength and worked the latter's arm to his advantage.
In the closing stretch of the bout, Brody attempted to hit a Ganso Bomb on The Swiss Superman. However, the AEW World Trios Champion turned the tables by sneakily delivering a low blow on King. He then planted Brody with a Neutralizer and pinned him to score three more points in the tournament.
It remains to be seen how Brody King and Claudio Castagnoli's C2 journeys will fare moving forward in All Elite Wrestling.
