Homage paid to WWE legend Eddie Guerrero and Brock Lesnar during high-stakes AEW match
A top AEW star has seemingly paid homage to Brock Lesnar and Eddie Guerrero on Dynamite. It happened during a high-stakes match in the Continental Classic Tournament.
On last week's Dynamite, Shelton Benjamin battled the resilient Mark Briscoe in an entertaining war. After an exciting back-and-forth contest, Benjamin won in the first round of the Continental Classic Tournament. The Hurt Syndicate member's next challenger was Kyle Fletcher.
The Protostar's singles run seems to be going well in recent weeks. After a dominant win over Will Ospreay at Full Gear pay-per-view, he was announced for the Continental Classic Tournament. At a recent Collision, he defeated Beast Mortos to earn three points in the tournament.
On tonight's AEW Dynamite, Shelton and Kyle entered the match with three points each. The crucial bout saw both the stars battle it out in the center of the ring. In one instance, while the Hurt Syndicate member had the upper hand in the contest, he taunted Fletcher by resting on the top ropes. This was potentially a tribute to Eddie Guerrero.
Not only did Shelton Benjamin pay tribute to Eddie, but his actions also resembled those of his long-time friend Brock Lesnar. He delivered multiple German Suplexes to the Protostar, which were moves made famous by the Beast Incarnate. However, the match's climax saw Kyle Fletcher pick up the victory after holding onto the middle rope.
As of now, Kyle Fletcher is at the top of the Blue League table with six points. It will be interesting to see who will pick wins later on AEW Dynamite.
