Huge title match announced for 5-year anniversary of AEW Dynamite

A major title match has been made official for the five year anniversary of AEW Dynamite. The bout will pit Will Ospreay against the promotion's recent blockbuster signing, Ricochet.

The Highlight of The Night made his explosive AEW debut at All In 2024, unsuccessfully competing in the Casino Gauntlet Match. His arrival has paved the way for considerable anticipation regarding a prospective dream match against Will Ospreay for the first time since 2017. The two men crossed paths backstage after The Aerial Assassin's International Championship defense against PAC at All Out 2024, with Ospreay telling Ricochet to pick up some wins and step up to him for his belt.

The Human Highlight Reel has been doing just that lately, defeating Sammy Guevara last week on AEW Dynamite and triumphing over The Beast Mortos this week. During a backstage interview afterward, Ricochet would once again be confronted by Will Ospreay. The Commonwealth Kingpin tried to clear up any possible heat between him and the former WWE superstar. The latter responded by sharing his views on how the All Elite locker room has been challenging him since his debut, suggesting that the roster was more concerned with proving themselves against him than going after Ospreay.

Ricochet then revealed talking to Tony Khan for an AEW International Championship match against Ospreay on the fifth-anniversary edition of Dynamite on October 2.

It remains to be seen if Ricochet will get his first All Elite gold next month on Dynamite.
