Huge update on Kenny Omega’s first feud after life-threatening injury

AEW star Kenny Omega recently provided details about his potential first opponent when he returns to the squared circle. The star being discussed is Gabe Kidd.

The Young Bull is one of the fastest-rising stars in the Japan-based promotion. He is also the current NJPW Strong Openweight Champion. Since the departure of stars like Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada, he has vastly improved himself and is seemingly ready to lead the brand.

The Best Bout Machine made his return to NJPW after recovering from diverticulitis. He was out for almost a year and received a huge welcome at NJPW Power Struggle. Following his promo, he was involved in a backstage confrontation with Gabe Kidd. The two have since then taunted each other via different interviews.

Despite the two stars seemingly being engaged in a heated rivalry for the past couple of weeks, Kenny Omega claimed Gabe Kidd wasn't suitable as his first opponent for his in-ring return. While speaking with Fightful, Omega revealed that the youngster wasn't willing to face him as Gabe Kidd is yet to lay a challenge against the former AEW World Champion.

"Do I think that he's a suitable opponent for my return? No. Absolutely not. I'm coming back from a life-threatening injury and professional wrestling and fighting are similar, but they're a little different. If this were a thing where Gabe really wanted to fight, I feel like that challenge would have been tossed my way already," he said. [H/T - Wrestling Inc.]

Kenny Omega was upset following the backstage fight

After The Cleaner fought backstage against Kidd, several pictures of the incident went viral on social media. Recently, someone posted a clip of the incident too.

While speaking with Fightful, the disgruntled Kenny Omega revealed he didn't want the clip to be public as he believed some stories should stay behind the doors of the locker room.

"Yeah, truthfully, I have said it before many times, there are certain things in the locker room that shouldn't be shared to the general public and I think this was one of locker room spats that didn't need to be shown to the world," he said.

Only time will tell if the duo will cross paths in the future.
