Hurt Syndicate member confesses AEW World Title 'is definitely on the agenda'
A Hurt Syndicate member revealed that he is looking to win the AEW World Championship in the future. The star being discussed is Shelton Benjamin.
The Standard of Excellence was benched in WWE for the majority of his career. He held mid-card championships a few times and was hardly featured on TV consistently. He received a decent push when he became part of the Hurt Business but was released in September 2023.
The former United States Champion is currently a part of Hurt Syndicate in All Elite Wrestling. He has quickly become one of the fan-favorite stars after displaying his exceptional in-ring abilities. He is currently wrestling in the Continental Classic tournament where he picked up three points. The Hurt Syndicate member recently opened up about his future plans.
While speaking on AEW Unrestricted, Shelton Benjamin claimed that now that fans have seen his potential in AEW, he wishes to capture the company's World Championship:
"I feel like longtime fans always knew, and new fans are going like, okay, is this the same guy from WWE? Honestly, no, I’m not. I’m off the chain, unrestricted, unleashed, however you want to describe it, I’m able to work to my ability, and I feel like I’ll be able to work to my potential. I have big plans while I’m in AEW, and a world title is definitely on that agenda," he said. [H/T - Fightful]
Hurt Syndicate member Bobby Lashley says Tony Khan believes in Shelton Benjamin
Shelton Benjamin wasted little time after his debut in AEW. He's had several acclaimed matches during his short time with the promotion.
While speaking with Undisputed's Justin Barrasso, Bobby Lashley said that Benjamin's early matches in AEW impressed Tony Khan.
"Tony [Khan] put Shelton in a couple matches right away, and both of those matches opened people’s eyes. Maybe someone didn’t see that in him before. Tony sees it, he sees how impressive Shelton is," he wrote.
It will be interesting to see if the Hurt Syndicate member is able to achieve his goal.
