"I don't think he ever cared" - Former WCW Champion lashes out at Tony Khan; shocked over his recent comments on top AEW star (Exclusive)

AEW seems to have secured a few victories of late, but the young company continues to face harsh criticism over various happenings and shortcomings. Tony Khan is once again the target of backlash. Former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Vince Russo has now made bold comments about Khan's mindset going into All Elite Wrestling and his recent praise for a day-one talent.

AEW's Friday night show recently took a massive hit in the ratings as Rampage drew just 172,000 viewers to kick off this month. This came just days before WWE NXT 2300 topped AEW's flagship show, Dynamite, in the latest head-to-head ratings battle between the brands. Khan and his team wrote these shows on the road to their sixth annual Full Gear pay-per-view set for this weekend.

Vince Russo did not mix words when discussing Khan and AEW's troubles on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing With Russo. The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion was asked by our own Dr. Chris Featherstone whether he felt Khan ever thought that this was just his pet project or if he ever actually cared about the business side of such a massive endeavor.

Russo doubled down and pointed to how the son of a billionaire had major praise for Darby Allin during a recent interview.

"I don't think he ever cared about the business side, man. I think he was going to get to own a wrestling company and write for a wrestling company, and I think that's all that mattered. He actually does believe the product they put out is good. I was reading a quote from him today, 'Darby Allin's the greatest wrestler on the planet!' He believes that (...) he truly, honestly, believes that," Vince Russo said. [From 5:00 to 5:30]

Russo also had ruthless remarks on the record-low Rampage ratings. The wrestling veteran commented on how he would have suggested his own punishment if he were responsible for such low numbers in WWE.
