“I tried to lie” - Saraya (fka Paige) spills the beans on violating WWE wellness policy
Saraya fka Paige was one of WWE’s most well-known wrestlers, thanks to her ability inside the ring. The star recently revealed how she tried to lie when she was caught violating the WWE wellness policy.
Saraya was with WWE from 2011 to 2022. The star was one of the best women's wrestlers in WWE and was one of the pioneers of the women's revolution. The star retired from active wrestling in April 2018 due to persistent neck injuries and was mostly seen in non-wrestling roles. However, she departed the company in 2022 and joined AEW, rejuvenating her in-ring career. During her time in WWE, the erstwhile Paige broke the wellness policy twice.
Saraya revealed her side of the story on the Dumb Blonde podcast and said that she tried to lie about her drug use but failed. She got tagged in an Instagram story posted by the podcast owner.
“On top of that, I popped two drug tests back to back with WWE too and they announced it publicly. One was like on my birthday and the other one was like when I came back the second time. It was coke and I tried to lie and I tweeted out that it was prescription pills and they are only doing that to me because I am not big on the roster like some of the men are. Then WWE came out with a statement that said it is actually coke, she is lying. They helped me a lot, they really did,” she said.
Saraya reveals how she injured her neck when in WWE
In the same podcast, she spoke about how the injury took place and she had to resort to doing drugs in her bid to save herself from the pain.
“It's just wear and tear. I got kicked and I took a bump on the ground and then I felt like a pop. At first, I felt like no one really believed me when I was like, ‘My neck is hurting.’ But it's already starting to look like a mess. Then it started really hurting and then I couldn't even pick up a cup. It would just fall out of my hands, I was so weak. I couldn't sleep at night, it was so painful that I kept doing drugs because it helped me sleep. I went and got an MRI done and then they were like ok yeah, you need to have surgery. So, I was away from work for a year and a half.”
Saraya has been making waves since moving over to AEW. She even became the AEW Women’s World Champion at All In at Wembley Stadium last year when she defeated Hikaru Shida. The first title reign lasted 44 days as she lost the title to Shida.
