"I've waited for over 6 years" - Former WWE star calls out Mercedes Mone

Mercedes Mone won the TBS Championship at AEW Double or Nothing. However, following the pay-per-view she was called out by a former WWE star.

Saraya and Mercedes Mone go way back to their time in WWE. They were part of the Women's Revolution that changed the industry forever. Over the years, both stars have faced each other several times in the ring. In fact, the former Paige's last match in Stamford-based company was against Mone at a live event in 2017, where the English-born star injured her neck and ended her in-ring career until 2022.

The former Divas Champion made her AEW debut in September 2022 and soon announced that she was medically cleared to compete once again. In her first match back, she defeated Britt Baker at Full Gear 2022. She went on to win the Women's World Championship at All In 2023. Now, given that Mercedes has joined Tony Khan's promotion and is the new TBS Champion, it is inevitable that the two of them will meet in the ring. In fact, Saraya has already made the first move by calling out the new champion on social media.

"I’ve waited over 6 years to take more than just your championship @MercedesVarnado let’s go baby girl," Saraya tweeted.

Mercedes Mone seemingly took a shot at WWE after AEW Double or Nothing

Mercedes Mone made her in-ring debut for AEW when she faced Willow Nightingale for the TBS Championship. Mone emerged victorious and captured her first title in the company.

During a post-show media scrum, Mercedes seemingly took a shot at WWE by saying that the Stamford-based promotion isn't the only place to wrestle.

"What was going to happen after leaving WWE? What was going to be next for me? Because a lot of time in wrestling people think that WWE is the only place, and I think tonight we showed the wrestling world that it’s not the only place. AEW is where the best wrestle, and we had the greatest show tonight celebrating five years of this incredible company." [From 0:04-0:29]

It will be interesting to see if Saraya's message on social media will lead to a storyline on TV.
