"I had to be the victim," says recently returned star after massive Bobby Lashley beatdown in AEW
A beloved independent wrestler recently returned to AEW, only to be annihilated by Bobby Lashley. The star in question, Cheeseburger, has now opened up on the experience.
This week on AEW Dynamite, Lashley wrestled for the first time in an All Elite ring in a two-on-one handicap match, soundly defeating Joe Keys and Cheeseburger. The latter has been competing since 2012 and has appeared in several promotions, including ROH, NJPW, and GCW.
During a recent edition of Fightful Overbooked's Co-existing, Cheeseburger discussed Bobby Lashley's herculean build and his receiving a devastating Dominator from the former WWE Champion this Wednesday. He also voiced his gratitude for being spared The Hurt Lock, which his tag partner Joe Keys succumbed to.
“[Laughs], yeah, he is an insanely strong human being. He is a mountain of muscle. Extremely terrifying man. [Laughs] Thankfully, I didn’t get put in the Hurt Lock like my partner, Joe Keys. I got the Dominator, I guess the first Dominator he’s done in several years, he brought it back, and I had to be the victim of it. But I was just very happy that I didn’t get put in the Hurt Lock like Joe Keys," Cheeseburger said.
The 31-year-old star also talked about the massive audience response he enjoyed on Dynamite, owing to his popularity among the ROH fanbase and the latter promotion's history in Pennsylvania.
“It was awesome. I’ve worked in that area a lot. Never directly in Reading, but that Lehigh Valley, Allentown area and Bethlehem, that area, and obviously Ring of Honor having its roots in Pennsylvania and Philadelphia, which is not that far off from that area, so it was really cool that people there, I always go out, and I never expect, especially people with a different company like AEW, even though there is a lot of crossover of Ring of Honor and AEW fans, I never really expect people to know who I am at all. So to come out and get that reaction was amazing." [H/T, Fightful]
Bobby Lashley was ambushed on AEW Dynamite by Swerve Strickland
Bobby Lashley is scheduled to face Swerve Strickland at Full Gear 2024. The New Flavor challenged The All Mighty after being beaten down by the latter and his stable-mates on Fright Night Dynamite. The Hurt Syndicate attacked Strickland once again earlier this month.
The Realest finally retaliated against Lashley this week on Dynamite, ambushing him in front of his car outside the arena first. After The Destroyer's squash match, Swerve launched another sneak attack on Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin, hitting several moves on the former Pride member before leaving the ring.
