"I don't want to talk about him" - Top AEW star comments on Will Ospreay; reveals he's "upset"
A top AEW star recently commented about Will Ospreay. He also revealed that he was "upset."
Orange Cassidy has shown tremendous growth since his initial days in AEW. His popularity has only grown in recent years, especially after picking up wins against some of the top stars in the company. Cassidy's time in the Jacksonville-based promotion will be remembered for his amazing reign as International Champion.
Cassidy held the title for a record 326 days in his very first reign and defended it tirelessly. He even put it on the line multiple times in a single day on a few occasions. Currently, the International Championship is held by Will Ospreay.
During a recent interview with WHO 13's Mark Freund, Orange Cassidy spoke highly about Ospreay's in-ring talent but also revealed that he doesn't want to talk about him much as he gets "upset" thinking about the International Championship.
"He's a savant of wrestling. He does everything so effortlessly and perfect. It kind of makes you frustrated about how a person could exist that can just immediately get something, I think the thing that Will Ospreay embodies in his wrestling is, it's exciting. Everything he does is exciting and suspenseful. So yeah, I don't want to talk about him that much because I'm still upset he has my championship" said Cassidy. [H/T: Fightful]
Orange Cassidy wants a rematch against Will Ospreay for AEW International Championship
Will Ospreay and Orange Cassidy first faced each other in singles competition at AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door 2022 for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. After an exciting match, it was Ospreay who emerged victorious.
During the same interview, Cassidy mentioned that he wants to get his AEW International Championship back in a rematch against Ospreay.
"I have not forgotten about the International Championship. Every time I hear, 'International Championship' from one of our announcers, I get a little something inside of me that's like, 'That should be mine.' Unfortunately, it's being held by the best professional wrestler in the world right now," he said. "You talk about that night [when Cassidy faced Will Ospreay at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door], I almost had him. I just hope he's ready for the rematch because I've been thinking about it a lot." It remains to be seen whether Will Ospreay will grant Orange Cassidy his wish with a rematch for the International Championship.
