"I wind up spanking your a**" - When WWE Hall of Famer confronted Cody Rhodes on AEW debut
A WWE Hall of Famer confronted Cody Rhodes on his AEW debut. The legend in question is Jake 'The Snake' Roberts.
The 67-year-old veteran kicked off his wrestling career back in 1974. At the young age of twenty, Roberts worked as both a referee and a wrestler in the independent circuit and signed with WWE. Since then, The Snake has been part of multiple wrestling promotions. In 2012, Roberts was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Back in 2020, Jake 'The Snake' Roberts shocked the wrestling world when he showed up in AEW. He showed up to confront The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes ahead of his TNT Title match against Lance Archer at Double or Nothing.
Roberts shared a small story with Rhodes and mentioned that it took over two decades for him to overcome his demons. He also mentioned that he uses his snake to instill fear in his opponents and then would beat them up.
“It’s been 20 years for me Cody. 20 years to get clean, to get right, and by god, I earned it. And if you think for one minute that I’m going to be a nice boy and play right, my man you got another thing coming. You see, for years I used to put a snake in a bag just to make somebody think about it. And once you thought about that snake, I had you in the palm of my hand and I wind up spanking your a**. That’s what happens," Jake 'The Snake' Roberts said. [00:02 - 00:47]
Jake Roberts took a shot at fellow WWE Hall of Famer and Cody Rhodes' mentor Arn Anderson
While speaking on the same segment, the wrestling veteran warned The American Nightmare that the Murder Hawk Monster Lance Archer will have Roberts in his corner.
The Snake then took a shot at Arn Anderson claiming that the WWE Hall of Famer was a one-trick pony.
"I will be on the outside of the ring, while my client faces you. And you can bring that one-trick pony Arn Anderson with you. My god, hey, Ceasar, oh Ceasar. What a Snake wants, a Snake takes. You see, I’m not in AEW to take the whole pie, just your share. Yeah! A wise man once told me never ever turn your back on somebody you respect or you’re afraid of.” [00:49 - 01:45]
Arn Anderson has currently taken Wardlow under his tutelage.
