"If people can't handle it, then don't watch" - Veteran supports Bobby Lashley's questionable Gunther proposal (Exclusive)
AEW star Bobby Lashley recently revealed his idea for a controversial storyline against Gunther. The Ring General is the current World Heavyweight Champion.
On last week's edition of AEW Dynamite Fright Night, Swerve Strickland defeated Shelton Benjamin in a singles match. After the match, Bobby Lashley made his shocking debut and brutalized Strickland, officially cementing his alliance with The Hurt Syndicate. The All Mighty recently shared the idea he had for a feud with Gunther in WWE which involved The Ring General calling him out by saying 'People like you don't deserve a chance at my title'.
In the recent episode of Sportskeeda's exclusive Writing with Russo podcast, Vince Russo questioned why there is a problem in doing a storyline on racism. He said that the people who have problems with it should stop watching as he's sick of watching matches without stories.
"I'm just gonna make it real. We hear so many stories bro, whether they're true or not about racism in wrestling and not enough black people in wrestling. We hear so many stories about that, why not do a storyline based on that? You know what man, if people can't handle it then don't watch. I mean that's what I'd do. I'm so sick and tired of all these wrestling matches for the sake of having wrestling matches with nothing behind it whatsoever. So, if we're gonna talk about that in the business, then let's do an angle and let's do a storyline around it." [2:00 - 2:46]
AEW CEO Tony Khan should let Bobby Lashley and The Hurt Syndicate book their stories, says Vince Russo
In the same video, former WWE Head Writer Vince Russo spoke about the creative direction of The Hurt Syndicate in All Elite Wrestling. The veteran praised the creativity of Shelton Benjamin, MVP, and Bobby Lashley but claimed that Tony Khan would directly put them in the ring rather than creating a compelling story.
"The cool booking challenges, this conversation isn't even had with Tony Khan. The true booking challenges go to the talent. MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton [Benjamin], this is what we want. This is what we need. What are your ideas in pulling this off? Bro, do you know the ideas that those three would have? Tony Khan's immediately gonna go to freaking wrestling and it's gonna s*ck. You've got three very intelligent veterans. I promise you they would know what to do." [5:23 - 6:02]
We will have to wait and see when Tony Khan decides to book the in-ring debut of Bobby Lashley in All Elite Wrestling.
