Injured AEW star returns in a new role at WrestleDream 2024

An injured star in AEW returned to the active scene, in a way, at WrestleDream this year to everyone's surprise. He was seen on screen alongside RJ City and others before the main show kicked off.

Chuck Taylor's career seemingly hit a major snag earlier, when he suffered an ankle injury. Initially thought to be recoverable, it was later discovered that his ankle had necrosis along with fragments underneath the cartilage. This led to him retiring from in-ring competition, with his last match ostensibly being the parking lot brawl with Trent Beretta.

At WrestleDream's Zero Hour, Chuck was spotted on the panel along with RJ City, Renee Paquette, and Jeff Jarrett. It should be noted that he was not ready for in-ring action.

Chuck has not yet counted himself out completely, as he currently works as a backstage coach. The 38-year-old was also hopeful that another surgery could see him back in action. According to him, several other stars in AEW have come back from near career-ending injuries and he would love to be one of them.

As of now, it remains to be seen if further surgery will help the AEW star get back in the ring in the near future.
