Interim EVP Christopher Daniels makes an important AEW announcementÂ
Interim EVP Christopher Daniels made a major announcement on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite. It concerned three top names of the Jacksonville-based promotion.
A couple of weeks prior on Dynamite, The Fallen Angel revealed that AEW President Tony Khan had appointed him as an interim Executive Vice President. Since then, he has been involved on-screen with several key programming decisions. Daniels made a huge announcement regarding some of the members of The Elite on the June 12, 2024 edition of Dynamite.
He said that The Young Bucks and Kazuchika Okada will compete in Elimination Matches next week on Dynamite for their AEW World Tag Team Championship and Continental Championship, respectively.
Furthermore, Daniels revealed that no seconds or stablemates would be allowed to accompany the champions for their matches. He pointed out The Rainmaker's familiarity with the stipulation as the Continental Champion. He claimed that Matthew and Nicholas Jackson would have to compete similarly in their match without any support or interference from their faction members.
The Young Bucks won the World Tag Team Titles by beating FTR at Dynasty 2024. Incidentally, the EVPs defeated the team of Matt Sydal and Christopher Daniels in an Eliminator bout last month and "fired" CD afterward in a shocking move. Tony Khan later brought back the former ROH World Champion as an on-screen interim EVP.
Okada defeated Eddie Kingston for the Continental Title in March and has since successfully defended his belt against Pac and Dax Harwood.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for The Elite.
