"Is it too late?" - Dustin Rhodes reveals massive future plans amid rumors of AEW contract expiry
WWE and AEW legend Dustin Rhodes has opened up about a major goal he wants to achieve before retiring. The Natural's contract with All Elite Wrestling has reportedly expired.
Recently in AEW's sister promotion, Ring of Honor, Dustin Rhodes won the ROH World Tag Team Title with Sammy Guevara. The veteran also added one more title to his resume by securing the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championship with The Von Erichs. However, he may not be done yet.
Despite having a long career in professional wrestling, Dustin Rhodes has never won a major world title. In a recent chat with WFAA, Rhodes revealed that he wanted to win a world championship, and having two titles around his waist made him believe that it was a possibility.
“There’s one thing that every wrestler if they don’t want this when they get into the business, they don’t belong in the business—and that’s to become world heavyweight champion. That is the one thing that is missing.”
The Natural added:
“I’ve won many, many titles from both companies and all kinds of companies across the world. But winning the world heavyweight title puts a feather in your cap, so to speak. I’m 55. Is it too late? I don’t think so.” [H/T: WrestleZone]
Dustin Rhodes hopes to be a part of AEW All In next year
AEW All In is set to take place in Arlington, Texas, next year and many stars, including Dustin Rhodes, hope to wrestle at the mega show. However, Rhodes' contract with All Elite Wrestling has reportedly expired.
In the same interview, The Natural revealed that he had some plans for his future that he would keep to himself. Rhodes hoped to wrestle at All In Texas, as it would be All Elite Wrestling's first stadium show in the United States.
"Yeah, I have some goals in mind. It’s a build to get there, I mean I’m gonna keep that kind of to myself, but I hope to be a huge part of All In Texas. This is our first US stadium show, which is gonna be huge.” [H/T: Fightful]
Fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for Dustin Rhodes in All Elite Wrestling.
