"It was the most embarrassing thing I ever seen" - 27-year-old star brutally trolls CM Punk's backstage fight with Jack Perry in AEW
NJPW star Gabe Kidd has commented on the infamous AEW incident between CM Punk and Jack Perry. Kidd recently had a major brawl with Kenny Omega at NJPW Power Struggle.
Last year at AEW All In, CM Punk and Jack Perry got into a backstage altercation after Perry took a bump on real glass in his match with Hook at Zero Hour. The Best in the World had initially spoken to Jack Perry prior to the event during a conversation and specifically talked about the effects of using real glass. The incident at All In resulted in Punk's firing from the promotion and Jack Perry being suspended by Tony Khan.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Gabe Kidd called the backstage altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry the most embarrassing thing that AEW aired on television. The NJPW star doesn't care if his brawl with Kenny Omega was compared to the All In controversy.
“Listen, I don't care about any of those other guys, any of those stories. You saw the video of Jack Perry and 'he who must not be named, little Phil' we'll call him? Little Phil, It was the most embarrassing thing I ever seen and they advertised it to air on TV, that was the most bonkers thing I ever seen in my life. I've seen better scraps at nursery, it was embarrassing, so I don't care if he compared it to that.”
CM Punk returned to WWE after leaving AEW
CM Punk's contract with AEW was terminated by Tony Khan in September 2023. At last year's Survivor Series Premium Live Event, CM Punk made his shocking return to WWE in his hometown.
The Best in the World's televised in-ring return came at Royal Rumble 2024, where he was the runner up after getting eliminated by Cody Rhodes. Punk is currently off television after his recent Hell in a Cell match with Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood.
We will have to wait and see when WWE decides to bring the Best in the World back on television.
