"It is one of my dreams to fight Jon Moxley as a champion" – 26-year-old star reveals pro wrestling goals
AEW star Jon Moxley has been a top name in the professional wrestling world ever since his departure from WWE, and a 26-year-old NJPW star recently revealed that he wants to fight Moxley after capturing the IWGP United States title in his upcoming match.
The star in question is Shota Umingo, who Jon Moxley took under his wing when he debuted in New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2019. Shota is set to take on the current IWGP United States (or UK) Champion Will Ospreay at NJPW Power Struggle.
Speaking to Tokyo Sports, the NJPW star spoke about a potential match against Jon Moxley:
"When we first met, he had the US heavyweight belt around his waist, and I have a lot of feelings about it. It is one of my dreams to fight Moxley as a champion. If I could do it on the Tokyo Dome stage, I think it would be a good plan for me personally." [H/T: Fightful]
Orange Cassidy states he has unfinished business with Jon Moxley
AEW star Orange Cassidy recently revealed that he's not done with former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley.
Cassidy captured his second International Championship after defeating Rey Fenix a few weeks ago on Dynamite. Speaking in an interview with Bex & Buster, Orange Cassidy praised Fenix while discussing their match:
"When the opportunity came up of me trying to get it back, I obviously took it. Rey Fenix is one of the best wrestlers in the world, but he was banged up, if not as bad or worse than I was when I lost it. I have it now, I’m very grateful. There’s unfinished business I have with this, and it has to do with the person [Moxley] that took it from me in the first place."
Cassidy also stated that he had some unfinished business with Moxley after All Out 2023:
"I feel like I have something to prove now. The first time around, I was just defending it to win. I don’t think I have to prove anything to anybody, ever, but for some reason, I think I do. Maybe it’s in my head." [H/T: WrestleTalk]
