"It was pretty brutal" - 14-time WWE champion claims several AEW stars didn't want him in the company

A former WWE star has made some serious claims about his time in AEW. He left the Jacksonville-based promotion earlier this year.

Matt Hardy first joined AEW in 2020 and was initially featured prominently. However, as time went on, he was involved in less major storylines on TV. After spending a couple of years in the promotion, he finally departed the company earlier this year. Since then, he has gone on to become a regular feature in TNA.

During a recent edition of his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the WWE legend spoke about people not wanting Chris Jericho on TV. He expressed that he was in a similar situation since many AEW stars didn't want him and Jeff Hardy to join their promotion.

"Chris [Jericho] and I fall in the same category. There are a lot of people in AEW that thought Jeff and I shouldn’t be there, we shouldn’t be featured, it was pretty brutal. It’s so funny that we came to TNA and numbers across the board are up and it’s not just myself and Jeff, but we definitely helped. We helped with that issue. They’re selling more tickets than they have in over a decade. It’s a very positive thing and it’s nice that we are being utilized in the correct way." [H/T Fightful]

WWE legend Matt Hardy on who can replace The Hardy Boyz in the future

The Hardy Boyz are one of the greatest tag teams of all time. Whenever a new tag team comes along, they are often compared to The Hardyz. Many fans have long wondered if anyone could ever replace the iconic duo.

During an interview with TV Insider, Matt Hardy answered this question by saying that his children could carry on The Hardy Boyz legacy since they are interested in the business.

"My kids definitely understand. They are very excited to be wrestlers one day, especially my oldest and youngest. The middle child Wolfgang wants to be about 10 things. They love wrestling... It would not surprise me at all if they pursue wrestling because they take pride in the fact their name could be the Hardy Boys as well. They can be Hardy Boys second-gen Gen. We’ll see," said the former WWE star. [H/T TV Insider]

It will be interesting to see when we will get to see Matt Hardy's children make their wrestling debut.
