"It's happening already" - Mercedes Mone urges AEW to launch a new show
Mercedes Mone was part of many historic moments during her time in WWE. It now looks like she wants to create history in AEW.
Mercedes Mone was a pivotal part of the women's revolution in WWE. She, along with several other women, was involved in several historic matches. The women's revolution paved the way for what wrestling is today. This ultimately led to the first-ever all-women's Premium Live Event, WWE Evolution, which was held in 2018.
Hence, when Mercedes was interviewed on the Battleground podcast, she was asked about the possibility of AEW holding an all-women's weekly show or PPV. The TBS Champion seemed ecstatic at the idea and said that this was the perfect time since they have the best women's wrestlers in the world.
She said that there are several talented female wrestlers who just need the opportunity and the platform to showcase their skills. She also claimed that the women's revolution has already started in AEW since the women have been killing it each week.
“Wow, a weekly show? Absolutely! I mean, we have the talent, so why not? All Elite Women’s Wrestling—there you go! We have the best women wrestlers, including Willow, Mariah May, Toni Storm, Serena Deeb, Kris Statlander, and Kamille. There is definitely an opportunity to have an all-women’s show every single week, so I don’t see why not. We have a roster full of talented wrestlers and a long list of women we can feature in a women’s pay-per-view. I think just giving them the chance and opportunity, and if Tony sees that, I don’t see why we can’t have a women’s revolution here in AEW. It’s happening already! The women have just been killing it every single week.” [H/T Ringside News]
Mercedes Mone recently recalled a promise Triple H made to her
During her time with WWE, Mercedes Mone was involved in several historic moments. The former Sasha Banks has even headlined WrestleMania alongside Bianca Belair.
The CEO was also on half of the first-ever Women's Tag Team Champions alongside Bayley. She was also part of the first-ever all-women Premium Live Event, WWE Evolution.
During a recent edition of her Mone Mag newsletter, Mercedes Mone recalled her match at WWE Evolution and how Triple H came up to her following the match and promised that there would be tag team titles for the women one day.
"When I think back to the most memorable tag team matches I've fought in, two matches come to mind. The first is a multi-person tag. Me, Natalia, and Bayley vs The Riot Squad at WWE Evolution. The match was so important to me. Bayley and I were fighting so hard to make Tag Team Titles. I remember Hunter coming up to me at Evolution and telling me you know, we are going to get these tag team titles one day. We are going to work for it," she stated.
It looks like Triple H made the right call, as the women's tag team division is currently on fire.
