Jeff Hardy finally comments on leaving AEW; gives major injury update
It seems that Jeff Hardy has departed AEW and is back on the independent scene. The younger brother followed the path of Matt Hardy, who exited the promotion after his contract expired earlier this year.
The Charismatic Enigma recently joined his brother Matt in TNA Wrestling, potentially on a per-appearance deal. The Hardys are winding down their wrestling careers but still seem to have some gas in the tank, as Jeff showed when he appeared at TNA Against All Odds last Friday and fought with The System.
Matt and Jeff Hardy appeared on the latest edition of Muscle Memory with MuscleManMalcolm. When asked for an update on his status, the younger Hardy revealed that he is cleared to wrestle and is quite likely done with All Elite Wrestling:
"I am cleared to wrestle again with a broken-nose mask," said Jeff. "But my deal with AEW is pretty close to being deleted, so to speak. So we'll see what happens, man. I'm excited to see where I go from here." [From 03:12 to 03:26)
When asked if Jeff Hardy saw himself joining his brother in TNA Wrestling, The Charismatic Enigma brought up the memories he's created with the Nashville-based promotion:
"Quite possibly, man, you never know. I had a lot of good memories and moments in TNA, a lot." [From 03:29 to 03:34]
The door is open for Matt and Jeff Hardy to return to AEW
Matt Hardy signed with All Elite Wrestling in March 2020 and became one of the most popular acts of the pandemic era. His brother Jeff joined the company two years later but had an up-and-down tenure due to injuries and legal troubles.
The Hardys may now be gone from AEW, but they didn't leave on bad terms. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, the legendary tag team is performing for TNA without contracts, leaving them on the free-agent market.
Additionally, it's been reported that the door to AEW is still open to them, and Matt Hardy recently confirmed that he was still in talks with Tony Khan. For now, though, the market is wide open, and it remains to be seen where The Hardys will turn up next.
