Jeff Jarrett on former AEW champion's blockbuster move to WWE: "He had already kind of made up his mind"
Jeff Jarrett recently addressed former AEW TNT Champion Christian Cage's blockbuster move from TNA to WWE in 2009. The latter is currently a top star in Tony Khan's promotion.
The Patriarch left WWE in 2005 after he felt the company didn't see him as a main event-level star. He went to TNA to prove himself and was in the promotion for three years. He returned to WWE in 2009 after his contract with TNA expired.
In his My World podcast, AEW star Jeff Jarrett stated that TNA could've done nothing to stop Christian Cage from returning to WWE. He added that the former AEW Word Trios Champion was in TNA to show his true mettle, and when he accomplished his goal, he went back to the Stamford-based promotion. He said;
“I think he had already kind of made up his mind. And I knew, and told Dallas and Panda [Energy] and probably told Dixie [Carter]. I don’t really think this is anything other than, he wants to go back to WWE to prove himself. I think we probably served the role that he wanted us to. He became champion, it was growth in his career. We did him a solid. He did us a solid.” (H/T ewrestlingnews)
Ex-WWE star might return to the ring after 9 years to face AEW's Christian Cage
Ex-WWE star Ezekiel Jackson had quite a history with Christian Cage in ECW. The two locked horns many times in the late 2000s for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship. Their last duel took place on WWE SmackDown in 2011.
A user on X/Twitter set up a fake match between Ezekiel and Christain, which caught the former's attention. He cryptically reacted to the tweet, potentially teasing his interest in locking horns with his old ECW rival.
Jackson last wrestled in October 2015 at the wXw 15th Anniversary Tour at N8Werk in Saarbrücken, Saarland, Germany. He has not returned to the ring since then.
