Jim Ross has always liked an AEW star's attitude: "His momma raised him well. God bless her"

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has lavished praise on a current AEW star who he claims has always had a fantastic attitude both in and out of the ring.

The star in question is Adam "Edge" Copeland, who JR brought to the WWE back in the late 1990s after the Rated-R Superstar generated some buzz on the North American independent circuit.

During the latest edition of his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross opened up about hiring Adam Copeland. He admitted that he not only thought he was raised right but that he was endorsed by none other than Bret Hart:

"We were aware of Adam's abilities. He had a great personality, he was a total team guy — 'Yes, sir. No, sir.' He was very polite. His momma raised him well. God bless her. But Bret calling me to speak up in a positive way for Adam was really the cherry on the sundae. I mean, nobody in the business of wrestling was more respected than Bret Hart, so he was very effusive about Adam's potential. Bret definitely did a great job of recruiting and selling him, and I'm sure glad he made that phone call." (H/T Wrestling Inc.)

During the October 7th edition of AEW Collision, Copeland revealed that JR paid off his student loans before joining WWE as a way to make him less worried about the future, which Jim also touched on in his podcast:

"I looked at my [WWE] budget and the right thing to do was paying off Edge's student loans," Ross recalled. "So you start your career debt-free, and that's what we did. I'm glad Vince thought it was a great idea. At that time, Vince was sold — this kid had something." (H/T Wrestling Inc.)

Jim Ross' AEW contract is coming to an end

JR has not only been a legendary announcer for the likes of WCW and WWE, but he has also been with AEW since the very first show in 2019. However, Jim Ross' future with All Elite Wrestling is currently up in the air.

In a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that Jim's AEW contract is either close to expiring or expired.

There is no word on how the negotiations are going at the time of writing, but given how much Ross has had in recent years, he might be sticking around in AEW for a few more.
