Jim Ross all but confirms the blockbuster AEW arrival of current WWE Superstar
Jim Ross appears to have subtly confirmed the rumored AEW arrival of WWE Superstar Ricochet.
The former United States Champion has reportedly informed WWE that he will be leaving the Stamford-based promotion after his contract expires next month. Earlier this week on RAW, Ricochet was seemingly written off TV following a vicious attack from Bron Breakker.
Amidst rumors of his departure, the 35-year-old high-flyer has been heavily linked with a move to All Elite Wrestling. Several stars like MJF and Will Ospreay have hinted at his potential signing this summer.
Speaking on Grilling JR, Jim Ross addressed the possibility of Ricochet leaving WWE for AEW:
“Well, not really [On if he would be surprised to see Ricochet in AEW]. But I don’t know how much difference it makes. Depends on how he’s brought in, and how he’s presented, how he’s positioned. He’s a talented kid, there’s no doubt about that. I’ve met with him before, and like him. He’s very spot-heavy. You know, I’d like to see him be able to be a little bit more fundamentally sound. But he’s a very talented, athletic kid. So, who knows? But it seems to me to be kind of obvious that the AEW brand would be where he might migrate to for regular work," Ross said. (H/T - 411mania)
Jim Ross speaks on his AEW status
Jim Ross has been off AEW TV lately due to serious health concerns.
However, the WWE Hall of Famer recently revealed that he would resume his broadcasting duties at the upcoming AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door III pay-per-view:
"I’ve got some appearances coming up. The next time I’m going on the road will be for the AEW pay-per-view, so I’m gonna resume my schedule of that activity. So I’ll be at [Forbidden Door], as far as I know. If Tony Khan doesn’t want me there, then he’ll tell me, but that’s not been the case. He’s been very supportive, which I appreciate.”
Ross recently announced that he has re-signed with All Elite Wrestling, calling it the quickest and easiest negotiation he has ever done in his 50+ year career.
