Jim Ross confirms former WWE Champion enjoys creative freedom in AEW - "He gets to book his own stuff"
Legendary commentator Jim Ross recently opened up about a former WWE Champion's run in AEW. Ross said the star enjoys creative freedom.
Chris Jericho has been a mainstay on AEW TV since the company's inception in 2019. He has been involved in many big storylines over the years and is the inaugural AEW World Champion. The veteran is the reigning ROH World Champion. Jericho is enjoying his time in AEW because he has a bit more creative freedom and can book his storylines. Even Jim Ross recently acknowledged The Learning Tree's importance to Tony Khan's company.
Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross said that Jericho is doing good work in AEW, adding that the 54-year-old ''gets to book his own stuff.'' The WWE Hall of Famer even called the ROH World Champion the MVP of the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Jim also said that the former WWE Champion would make for a great booker one day.
“He became one of the biggest stars in wrestling history, and he’s still going. Jericho’s still going. When you see him on AEW, you see good work. You see a smart program. He gets to book his own stuff, more often than not, and I’m sure glad we got him. I’ve said many times, arguably, over the last two or three years, he’s been kind of the MVP of AEW because he’s stayed in place,'' he said.
The 72-year-old added:
''He stayed there, and he built his brand, and now his brand is very strong. It’s a main event brand. When you see Jericho, you just don’t look away because you know something’s gonna happen, and it’s going to come out of his mind. He’d make a great booker, no doubt about it in my mind.'' Jim Ross is also a fan of Marina Shafir
Marina Shafir is currently aligned with Jon Moxley and The Death Riders. She has come off as a fearless woman who isn't afraid to get in the face of men and beat them up. The 36-year-old has gotten physical with several male stars who have brawled with The Death Riders in recent months. Even Jim Ross has become a fan of her.
Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross was all praise for Shafir's work as a member of Moxley's crew. He said that she was the missing element that The Death Riders needed.
“I’ll sing the praises of Marina Shafir. She just adds a different element. I have never on this show explained it as I should because I’m not sure how to explain it. She’s just that element, that one ingredient to the stew that makes it perfect. So I think she’s been a huge addition to the process," Ross said. [H/T: Fightful]
It will be interesting to see what the creative team has in store for Marina Shafir and The Death Riders.
