Jim Ross gives a huge update on his AEW All In 2024 status
AEW All In 2024 is set to take place on 25th August in London, England. WWE veteran Jim Ross has just given a huge update on his status for the event.
Jim Ross first made a name for himself as a color commentator. JR called some of the biggest matches and iconic moments in WWE history. During his time there, Ross was also in charge of talent relations. After spending several years with the Stamford-based promotion, he left the company and joined AEW a couple of years ago.
Since then, JR has made appearances on PPVs and weekly shows. However, in recent months, Ross has missed a few shows due to his health. The Voice of Wrestling recently appeared on Highspots' Virtual Gimmick Table Show where he confirmed that he will be at AEW All In 2024 to call the main event match between Bryan Danielson and Swerve Strickland.
"Well, I’m getting ready to go to London for AEW. I think I’m scheduled to call the Bryan Danielson-Swerve (Strickland) match, and that’s gonna be a barnburner. A slobberknocker if you will. Both them are hungry, both of them are great. It could be (that someone will get beat like a government mule). Very likely. I think that may happen.” [H/T: Ringside News]
Jim Ross was uncomfortable with controversial AEW moment
A couple of weeks ago, The Elite faced off against Team AEW in a Blood & Guts Match where the latter team came out on top. During the match, Mark Briscoe hit Jack Perry with an unprotected chair shot which became a major talking point online. Many people criticized AEW for the dangerous spot.
Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross mentioned that he felt uncomfortable watching the chair shot on TV but he understood why the spot took place.
"I was uncomfortable with it, to be honest with you. I understand why it was done, I understand the environment that we were in on that show. When I saw it watching it here at home, I was mildly shocked... that it came from such velocity, and harmful intent, and thank God I think they only used it once, if I remember correctly. So, it was, uh... it's tough, man. How far do you go? What's too much? What's not enough? I would just suggest that there are ways to get the same violence without scrambling a guy's brains," Jim Ross said.
It remains to be seen if AEW will be more careful with dangerous spots moving forward.
